Resources

Here I have listed some of the sites that I frequent because they either have great products, information or a combination of both. I am always on the hunt for new recipes to try and ingredients to use, so if you know of a great site that has helped you let me know. I will gladly take a peek at it and list it here if I think it will be useful to others.

San Francisco Baking Institute

This is a wonderful place to purchase artisan bread baking equipment like dough rising baskets, baguette flipping boards and linen canvas for making a couche. The prices are extremely reasonable and the proceeds from the dough rising baskets go to benefit the students in the form of scholarships.

King Arthur Flour

King Arthur Flour has been milling quality flours that bake into beautiful breads since 1790. They are a great resource for hard to find flours and other ingredients. Whenever we take a drive up to Vermont I have to stop into their store. It is my kid in candy store place!

Different Drummer’s Kitchen

A local to me kitchen supply store that has just about everything you could want for your kitchen. I love their selection of baking equipment from baking stones to all sorts of different pans. They have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff that shares a passion for cooking.

Forno Bravo

I go to this website to feed my longing for a wood-fired pizza oven. I will stare at the photos and dream of the day when I will have one in my own backyard. One day I will buy one of these beautiful ovens, but until then I will have to make due with using them as a source for buying Caputo pizza flour. This flour is the beloved brand by Neopolitan pizza makers.

Hodgson Mill

I really love their stone ground wheat and rye flours. They have a wonderfully rough texture and bake up into beautiful breads. You can purchase many of their flours in the supermarket, but they are also available through mail-order and online.

Fancy Flours

It was the name that first got me when I was looking for dragees (little silver embellishments). Their website is filled with many great decorations for cakes, cupcakes and candies. I love that when I go to their website for one thing, I inevitably find a number of other things that I didn’t know I needed, but now I must have.

Filled with tons of wonderful country and primitive style products at great prices, this website has a large selection of primitive decor and many other great items for your home.

Penzey’s Spices

Penzey’s is a great source for wonderfully fragrant and fresh spices and dried herbs. I find that they are very reasonably priced and I love the fact that you can buy in small quantities or pretty large ones. This is where I always get my poppy, sesame and caraway seeds from.
